Why Hollywood Studios Needs at Strategy

Hollywood Studios has fewer rides than some other Disney parks, but it also has some of the highest wait times in Walt Disney World. Attractions like:

• Tower of Terror

…can easily hit 90–180 minute waits on busy days. That’s why having a solid touring plan matters.

Before You Arrive at the Park

Buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass

If your budget allows, Lightning Lane can save HOURS at Hollywood Studios. This is the top park that I suggest purchasing Lightning Lane for. If you can only budget to purchase this pass one day of your trip - save it for Hollywood Studios (especially if you have children tall enough to ride evrything at this park)!

Prioritize these attractions:

3. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

4. Toy Story Mania

Arrive Early (Very Early)

You should aim to:

• Arrive at security: 45–60 minutes before Early Entry

• Be inside the park before official opening

Hollywood Studios is one of the BEST parks for the rope drop strategy. This park is popular and honestly one of my favorites. This causes lines to build quickly once the park offically opens. If you stay on Disney property (which I recommend) then you can enter the parks early and get some of the top rides done before there are major crowds. 

Morning Strategy (Rope Drop)

Option 1: Rope Drop Rise of the Resistance

If this is your top priority:

• Go directly to Galaxy’s Edge

• Ride Rise of the Resistance first

• Then do Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Why? Rise of the Resistance consistently has one of the longest waits in Disney World. However, if this ride goes down in the morning, move on to a different ride and come back later. It can take 30-45 minutes for them to restart the ride so don't waist time waiting. 

Option 2: Rope Drop Slinky Dog Dash

Traveling with younger kids? Head straight to Toy Story Land for:

• Slinky Dog Dash

• Toy Story Mania

• Alien Swirling Saucers

This area gets crowded FAST.

9:30 AM – Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

This family-friendly attraction is one of the best rides in the park and a must-do for all ages. Located at the Chinese Theatre, it’s a perfect next stop after rope drop. 

Don’t Miss:

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

A fun interactive ride where guests become pilots, engineers, or gunners aboard the Falcon.

Lunch Recommendations

By now, crowds are building and it’s a great time to eat before peak lunch rush.

• Totchos

• Grilled cheese

• Family-friendly options

Docking Bay 7

Best for:

• Unique Star Wars-themed meals

• Air-conditioned seating

ABC Commissary
